5 Layla s Trip Stars I ve been meaning to get to this book for a long time It s been recommended to me by many of my trusted book buddies Now that the whole series is out, I figure it s a good time to read, right YES I can t imagine not being able to jump straight into book 2, then 3 from here I am so happy I waited This book was so fun Made me nostalgic for my high school days Oh to be young again Layla Warren is getting ready to start her senior year of high school With her best friend Lisa by her side, she s ready to embark on this adventure What she isn t ready for is Terrance C Wilmington III to sit behind her in English class The new guy, also know as Trip, is the most beautiful guy she has ever seen She has it bad for Trip the moment she first sees him Trip and Layla develop a friendship It s pretty apparent that Layla has a giant crush on Trip, but he is harder to read The school year was full of misunderstandings and a little angst But then came that glorious summer of 1991 Lets talk about the characters Layla Layla was so lovable I felt like she was talking right to me throughout the entire book And she was so damn funny Are you there, God It s me, Layla I know I just jerked off some guy who is not even my boyfriend in the bathroom of this crappy, brown house But if you could find a way to kill me quickly and painlessly within the next ten seconds, I promise to never touch another penis again Well, I ll be dead, so, I guess I promise not to whore it up in heaven Which, of course is where you ll be sending me, right I mean I d hate to think you d deny me an eternity behind your pearly gates just because of one impetuous handjob Thank you Sincerely, Layla Warren Amen Then there is Trip I adored everything about Trip By the end of the book he had me swooning so hard view spoiler THAT LETTER Ah I died hide spoiler

Are you there, God It s me, Layla I know I just jerked off some guy who is not even my boyfriend in the bathroom of this crappy, brown house But if you could find a way to kill me quickly and painlessly within the next ten seconds, I promise never to touch another penis again Well, I ll be dead, so, I guess I promise not to whore it up in heaven Which, of course is where you ll be sending me, right I mean, I d hate to think you d deny me an eternity behind your pearly gates just because of one impetuous handjob Thank you Sincerely, Layla Warren Amen. It s the fall of 1990 and Layla Warren has just started her senior year of high school when new kid and god among high school boys, Trip, gets assigned the desk right behind her The two immediately embark on a witty, playful and sexually tense dance around each other that comes to define their friendship He was funny in the way you can crack up watching your little brother try to win a battle with a bag of gumballs, seeing how many he can fit in his mouth, laughing while grey gum juice runs down his chin He was funny like that Unexpectedly goofy And silly And dare I say it, even a little dorky.Damn if this book didn t bring back so many memories from high school Does your best guy friend and secret crush want to be than friends Was he just flirting with you Why the hell did he bring her to the party These are universal things every high school girl seems to experience and it was so much fun waiting to see how Layla and Trip were going to handle it all The book s told entirely from Layla s point of view and sometimes I just wanted to shake her and say Nooooo Don t make the same mistakes I did Though the book takes place in 90 91 New Jersey, the author never used that as a gimmick I was expecting a ton of aqua net, spandex and big hair references for the sake of humor but with the exception of the beginning of the book, those references never really came The story could ve easily taken place today and the book s that much stronger because it didn t rely on those clich d images Remember When isn t just a book about a teenage girl falling for a beautiful, funny boy Layla s still dealing with the aftermath of her mother abandoning her family five years earlier She also has to admit to the fact she s no longer the most important person in her best friend s life and coming to the realization that every single relationship in her life is going to drastically change once she takes off for college Normal experiences for a girl her age, but it worked for me because they re experiences I can vividly remember going through as well I loved every minute I spent reading this book As funny and down to earth as both Layla and Trip s characters are written and as well done as this story is, I can t imagine any female over the age of 18 not relating to it somehow The next book in the trilogy picks up Layla and Trip s story ten years later and I can t wait

Emma Evan,Kat Daemon, Will Layken, Sunshine Josh, Augusta Hazel, please make room for Layla and Trip T Torrest brilliantly tells the story of Jersey Girl, Layla Warren s relationship with the now world famous Trip Wiley back in the day of their senior year of high school While I was picturing who was going to play me in the movie version of my life story Alyssa Milano, maybe Are you there, God It s me, Layla Remember When is told in the main character Layla pov I think any reader will be able to relate to Layla, I know I did She is the perfect combination of funny and sweet Needless to say, we aren t privy to the feelings of Trip A reader experiences all the insecurities and doubts as well as all the highs right along with Layla It doesn t have to mean something when two people are really truly just platonic friends What doesn t work is when one of you has a big, fat crush on the other Lisa You re beautiful The kind of beautiful that doesn t go away Do you even know how beautiful you are Trip The story had the right amount of innocence, humor and chemistry to make any reader swoon The ending was so well done and the story could definitely be a standalone The best news is that readers should mark their calendars because the next installment is due out this week I could ramble for hours on how much I thoroughly enjoyed this book But, I leave you with thisHow the story was told, how it was wrapped up, and how the nostalgia on each and every page just stuck with you, made for an absolutely compelling read Love is one of the many words to describe my feelings for this book and I would definitely recommend Stay gold, Ponyboy Layla

4 High School Experiences StarsI ve seen T.Torrest around a bit and I never picked up one of her books I finally saw Remember When 1 on audio and well you know I was all over that It really is the best way to experience books in my opinion.Remember When 1 is part of trilogy Remember When 1 is a full novel, so don t think it is a mini book The ending will leave you satisfied, so don t think it s an epic cliffy I didn t know anything about this book, I think I remember reading the Hero is a famous actor, but other than that I went into this book blindly I will be honest, the tone was something I had to get use to It s a book where the Heroine retells her relationship with the Hero when they were in high school So everything is in past tense The time frame is set in the early 90 s This was also something I had to get use to I grew up in the late 90 s, so I got some of the references, but some of them, not so much I did like that it was set in New Jersey and some of the accents were very cute to listen I consider this a YA novel, than NA There are some steamy parts, but overall, it reads as a very sweet, YA book So, Trip is the main guy and he is a famous actor This is the story of Layla s relationship with Trip before he got famous I loved that it was in high school I did think the book would fast forward a bit, like towards the middle or end, but I never got that The whole book is in high school, which is fine, but I wished I got a little teaser to book 2 Trip is the new guy in school and Layla thinks he is all kinds of yummy Layla is a typical girl She is living it up on her last year in High school and she just wants to go to college and well have fun Unexpectedly Trip and Layla form this crazy tight friendship, which I found very very very cute I loved the innocence of Trip and Layla s relationship The relationship was pure friendship, but of course Layla starts to develop feelings, but she can never Trip that. There was a bit of angst mixed in the story because Layla has many opportunities to tell Trip her feelings towards him, but she keeps on chickening out I was screaming at her to tell him Trip is your typical high school boy He s kind of in his own head I liked that he liked Layla as a friend, but I sometimes found he JUST liked her as a friend, if that makes sense I wanted to see him have feelings towards her Layla and Trip do steal some moments, but I wanted .The book is fairly descriptive and I usually have a problem with that, but in audio format, it was fine for me Torrest really set the tone and pace of the book I was very much consumed with the story My favorite part was the last 30% because that is where I felt the story picked up a lot Overall, I had some highs and some lows with this one, but I liked it The last bit really hooked me and it s got me curious on how the story will progress AudioWhat made the experience of listening to Remember When the most enjoyable I thought the length of the book was kind of perfect It wasn t too long and it wasn t too short I found the relationship between the Hero and Heroine very sweet and innocent Something I enjoy listening to I got really into the story What was one of the most memorable moments of Remember When The most remember parts to me are when the Hero and Heroine progress their relationship The relationship between Trip and Layla is very slow and sweet, so I was very happy with anything that kind of kicked the relationship up a notch Have you listened to any of Allyson Ryan s other performances before How does this one compare This is my first Allyson narration I would say she has a deep voice, but since the story is retold so it s in past tense , she fit Layla perfectly She read at a perfect pace and I thought the bits of New Jersey accent was cute note the Heroine doesn t have a NJ accent I m not a fan of her impersonation of Trip s voice, but I did like that she made her voice deeper for his parts Did you have an extreme reaction to this book Did it make you laugh or cry I was all over the place with this book I found it starting out fairly sweet and innocent and then I got caught up in the angst and I wanted to yell and scream and then I was listening like crazy when it picked up towards the end It will make you feel an array of emotions, but in a good way Remember When 1 FREE Remember When 2 Remember When 3

Oh.I don t even know where to beginThis book was just so freaking cute As a child of the 80 s I cracked up at many of the old sayings because yes I have called someone cuckoo for cocoa puffs. The story follows Layla Warren who recounting her senior year of high school It starts off with her going to school and in walks new boy, Terrance C Wilmington the third, who sits behind her in Ms Mason s class They become instant best friends You go through senior year with the ups and downs between the two of them and their close group of friends I found myself cracking up throughout this book Dear God, It s me Layla I know I just jerked off some guy who is not even my boyfriend in the bathroom of this crappy brown house but if you could find a way to kill me quickly and painlessly within the next ten seconds, I promise never to touch another penis again Well, I ll be dead so, I guess I promise not to whore it up in heaven Which of course is where you ll be sending me, right I had to be careful not to overdo it, because too much brushing would cause that armor of Aqua Net to start flaking, making me look like I was the Dandruff Queen Oh and the end It made me want so much And I totally had forgotten that one part so I loved when it came full circle

Years before Trip Wiley could be seen on movie screens all over the world, he could be seen in the desk behind me in my high school English class A light hearted quick read that took me right back to high school and that whole first crush first love feeling Of course, my high school crush didn t grow up to be the next Brad Pitt, but I digress. This book had me smiling, swooning and chucking to myself from the first chapter There were a few moments so that were so funny that when I tried to read them aloud to my husband, I was laughing and crying to hard to get the words out Are you there, God It s me, Layla I know I just jerked off some guy who is not even my boyfriend in the bathroom of this crappy, brown house But if you could find a way to kill me quickly and painlessly within the next ten seconds, I promise to never touch another penis again Well, I ll be dead so, I guess I promise not to whore it up in heaven Which, of course is where you ll be sending me, right I mean, I d hate to think you d deny me an eternity behind your pearly gates just because of one impetuous hang job Thank you Sincerely, Layla Warren Amen LOL See what I mean The trilogy is a second chance romance The hero, Trip, and the heroine, Layla, met in high school and fell in love But, at the end of the year, their lives took them in opposite directions and it was years before they reconnected This entire book is a flashback showing us how they met and taking us through their year together in school and is told from Layla s POV, as though she s looking back and directly telling the story to the reader. It s all total high school fun There are crushes and jealousies and miscommunications but I found everything really endearing The characters were quite lovable and I really just enjoyed my read Most of the time, the purposes of a high school party were to socialize, drink and hook up The latter of which I was reminded of while waiting in line for the bathroom as Coop Benedict tried to stick his tongue in my ear He your boyfriend I stammered out, Uh, no God, no Why d you think that Trip raised an eyebrow I don t know Maybe because I saw him tonsil deep in your ear a few minutes ago and yet he still has his balls I absolutely adored all the parts of the book which were focused on Trip and Layla I do wish their romance had developed a little further though They certainly had feelings for each other from the start but a part of me wished that there was time in the book spent on them but I m sure we ll see of that when they reconnect in the next book No, Layla I won t stop He moved closer, cradling my head to his chest before continuing I know you re leaving and I would never try to keep you from going, and I guess I have my own path to follow as well But don t ever ask me to stop loving you, because I can t Don t ever think I ll be able to forget you, because I won t I read it in one quick sitting but I do wish that I had waited because this book does end on a cliffhanger Well, technically it wasn t a surprising cliffhanger cuz we all know they get separated after high school but still I wish I had the rest of the story ready to go because fucking hell, I hate goodbyes Is there anything so powerful as the love of two teenagers bring ripped apart I heard book 2 has a cliffhanger that s even bigger than this one so I m going to wait til the third and final book is released and then read 2 3 back to back but I will definitely be reading on in the series The little snippet I saw from book 2 had me intrigued so I m looking forward to seeing where their story goes from here For of my reviews, book news and updates Main blog Aestas Book Blog Facebook Blog Page Twitter
